How we work
Gear reviews are mostly opinions. We try to add the numbers underneath them.
Where the numbers come from
- Manufacturer specs: dimensions, turn radius, weight, flex and ratings, taken from brand and retailer spec sheets.
- Independent test scores: published results from established testers. We credit the tester on every chart and link to the original test.
- Our own measurements, when we have the gear in hand. We say so when we do.
How we analyze them
We use scripts, and AI tools for some of the number crunching, to line specs up against scores and look for patterns. Then we check the results by hand. We publish the sample size and the caveats with every finding, and we say when a pattern is weak.
Our diagrams are drawn from published dimensions. We don't use AI-generated product images.
How the site makes money
Some links go to retailers that pay us a small commission if you buy. That never changes the price you pay, and it doesn't change our findings: the data says what it says. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
We don't accept payment for rankings or for findings.
